Privacy & policy

Confidentiality & Privacy

The law protects the relationship between a client and a psychotherapist, and information cannot be disclosed without your written permission. There are three exceptions, which we believe you should know about before your first session rather than afterwards.

The three limits of confidentiality

  • Suspected child abuse, or dependent adult or elder abuse, which we are required by law to report to the appropriate authorities immediately.
  • If a client is threatening serious bodily harm to another person, we must notify the police and inform the intended victim.
  • If a client intends to harm themselves, we will make every effort to enlist their cooperation in ensuring their safety. If they do not cooperate, we will take further measures without their permission that are provided to us by law in order to ensure their safety.

What this website collects

This website collects only what you choose to send us through an appointment request, a facility inquiry, or a Social Care Network screening: your name, contact details, what kind of support you are looking for, and any general message you write. Submissions are stored so our staff can follow up with you and are visible only to our team.

We record a simple, anonymous count of form submissions so we can tell whether the site is working. We do not send the contents of your submission, your name, or your contact details to analytics, and we do not run advertising trackers on this site.

We do not sell your information, and we do not share it with third parties for marketing purposes.

Please do not send health information through this website

Our website forms are for general and administrative messages only. Do not include confidential or private information about your health condition in any form on this website, including symptoms, diagnoses, medications, or records.

This website is not a clinical records system, and we do not represent it as HIPAA compliant. Do not use it to send protected health information. When you contact us, our team will arrange a secure way to discuss clinical details with you directly, and will tell you which systems and agreements are appropriate for anything involving your health information.

Forms, records, and your choices

We share information with another provider only with your written authorization, using our Authorization to Disclose Information form. You can withdraw that authorization at any time as described on the form itself.

If you have questions about your records, our policies, or how your information is handled, contact our office at 914-352-6116 or hyinhealth@gmail.com and we will answer them.

Our new client forms, including the limits of confidentiality and our cancellation policy, are available on our Patient Resources page.

Emergencies

Crisis support is different from a request

If this is an emergency, please do not use this website.

  • Call 911 or go to your nearest emergency room if you or someone else is in immediate danger.
  • Call or text 988 to reach the Suicide and Crisis Lifeline, available 24 hours a day.
  • Our website forms and phone lines are for routine appointment requests and administrative questions only.

This page describes our current published policies. If anything here conflicts with information our office gives you in person, please ask us so we can clarify it for your situation.
